Eastside Baptist Church was founded in 1952 and is a Southern Baptist Convention Member.
Eastside Baptist Church exists for a reason. We believe that reason is found clearly in the Bible. Our purposes can be summarized in two passages from the book of Matthew. They are commonly called, "The Great Commandment" and "The Great Commission".
The Great Commandment - Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love yourneighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.(Matt. 22:37-40)
The Great Commission -Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and theHoly Spirit, a nd teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.(Matt. 28:19-20)
These scriptures give us five core purposes for which the church was created:
*Fellowship. "Baptizing them..."
*Discipleship. "Teaching them to obey..."
*Ministry. "Love your neighbor as yourself..."
*Evangelism. "Go and make disciples..."
*Worship. "Love the Lord with all your heart..."
At Eastside, all our ministries, programs and activities are organized around these five purposes.
You will see these purposes reflected in the five "M's"-
*Membership. Knowing Christ as Savior and Lord and being a member of His family, the church.
*Maturity. Growing in Christ through prayer, Bible study, and interaction with other Christians.
*Ministry. Sharing the Good News of salvation in Christ with our neighbors and the rest of the world.
*Magnification. Putting Christ front and center in our lives, praising Him for who He is and what He has done for us.
